FRANK SINATRA

FRANK SINATRA

Frank Sinatra, or “Ol’ Blue Eyes” as he often was called, was no doubt one of the most important singers of the “Song-Era”. Surely, he wasn’t the best SINGER of’em all… there were plenty of better ones…  but, he had this something special - that the others didn’t have. And he was persistent! He kept on going on-and-on, until he actually in the end was the living legend he was.  His best recordings are sheer magic! Even singing-wise. His singing capabilities were best in his early 30s, but in later years he got more of this “something special”.  Even if I personally don’t rank him tops as a “singer”, he absolutely has his “legendary” status well earned. He was simply amazing!

During his career he worked with many incredible arrangers; Axel Stordahl, Nelson Riddle, Gordon Jenkins, Don Costa, Billy May - just to name a few…. Each of them working hard to help this “little fella” towards stardom.  Some of these works I have transcribed here;  The big Orchestra recordings, as well as the BigBand recordings.
