JOE ZAWINUL

(1932 - 2007)

Josef 'Joe' Zawinul is today mostly regarded as one of the biggest Keyboard-Legends of all time.

He went to N.Y in his early 40s, and rather quick made his own name.

In early 70's, the major break-through came for his group 'Weather Report'.

Zawinul always used a rather personal harmony-style, that might have it's roots from his childhood folk-music playing.

When one analyses his best Weather Report works, it quickly becomes evident that he actualy was a prime-rate Orchestrator!

He mostly played his Keyboards as if they were Orchestral Instruments.

On his recordings, in several takes.

I Orchestrated 2 of his Works for Orchestra. That was not too hard - since it was already finished.
