In 1973 the break-trough of Tower of Power was imminent!  This track was the opener of their self-entitled LP-record.

Although TOP had been working on their career for a while already, 1973 was the BIG deserved breakthrough for them.

On this self-entitled LP-Album, a handful of songs are presented - that still are played today, almost unchanged...

Apart from being a cool funk-song, The opener "What is Hip?" describes pretty good what TOP stands for:

Play really good  &  be self- /social-critic  (but always with a twinkle in the eye...).

Here in an adaption for Big-Band.
