David’s concertino for trombone is certainly one of the most important pieces for

trombone from the German romantic period.

Composed in 1837, and most probably partly orchestrated by Mendelssohn,

who was one of David's best friends.

It is said, that it should become a violin concerto, but ended up as a trombone concerto.

 - This ended up as David’s luckiest "mistake": It’s his most played work until today.
